Plain terms for a small tool: use it to explore and study, check anything that matters, and don’t mistake a draft for a source.
The service
Anglo-Saxon Translator provides AI-generated translation drafts between Modern English and Old English, plus reference content such as the dictionary, alphabet and phrase pages. Everything is provided as-is, for exploration and study.
No accuracy warranty
Drafts can be wrong, including in subtle ways, and we make no warranty — express or implied — about their accuracy, completeness or fitness for any purpose. The evidence labels (Attested, Adapted, AI-generated) tell you what a piece of text is and where it came from; they are not a quality guarantee, and editing or regenerating text removes any label it carried.
Permanent uses
Do not rely on a draft for tattoos, inscriptions, publication, academic citation or any other permanent use without independent verification — against the sources cited on this site, or with a qualified scholar. A fluent-looking draft is not evidence.
Fair use and limits
The translator is rate-limited (a small number of requests per minute, within a daily budget) so it stays available and affordable for everyone. Automated scraping, bulk extraction or attempts to bypass the limits may be blocked. Do not present AI drafts from this site as historical quotations — the labels exist precisely to prevent that.
Content and sources
Quoted texts and dictionary citations belong to their respective editions, dictionaries and owners (for example Bosworth–Toller and Wiktionary, under their own terms) — we cite them, we do not claim them. The site’s own text and design are ours. Text you type remains yours; see the privacy page for how it is handled.
